FREEDOM In a land far away across the sea There lived a king so bold; He ruled his land with an iron hand, And his blood ran dark and cold. The king had a bird, so I've heard, A falcon with talons sharp; He loved that bird who without a word Could rip away its covering tarp. The falcon would soar, evermore If it got the chance to get away! For freedom was dear, that was quite clear, But the king kept it in night and day! T'would be a blessing if the king learned a lesson; And watched as the falcon took flight; Then took off himself, with all of the wealth Wrapped up in his pocket real tight! But, alas, it is true, the king never knew How beautiful freedom could be; As for the falcon, it always kept on Trying for all of its years to be free! |
