An original poem in the style of Walt Whitman. |
| As I wander’d lone through nature, I admir’d the beauty of a Minnesota snowflake, Its singular, crystalline essence glimmer’d in the sunlight, Till its fragile body melted on my sleeve. I admir’d the raw power of the Mississippi, glistening in the sunset, Its pure, golden waters meandering through fertile plains, Shaping America’s landscape. I admir’d the intricacy of a seashell, Wash’d up by the Pacific’s pounding surf, Its spiral captur'd and drew me in. I admir’d the delicate leaf of a New England Maple, Held it within my grasp, And traced its frail veins with my fingertip, As I wander’d lone through nature.
