THE TURKEY Thanksgiving Day had rolled around The folks had come in from town To celebrate with food and fun And linger till the day was done. Mother, looking quite serene Had taken pains to cook and clean; While Father sharpened up the knife And give the blade a bit of life! The table set with the best china The turkey brought out; nothing finer! The day took on a bit of glee As the turkey slipped onto Grandpa's knee! Granpa jumped up and cried: "I thought you said this turkey died! Give me the knife!" Serene, he said: "I'll do it in!" |
