LOVING HIM

In fairy tales I always read
That when two lovers meet
They live happy ever after
And life can be so sweet!

Growing up, trying my wings,
I thought that I could fly -
But it wasn't 'till I met him;
That I gave this love a try.

There was something in the way
He looked at me that night
That sent shivers down my spine
And filled me with delight.

A smile that promised rainbows,
Eyes of a deep brown hue;
His hands reaching out to me
We danced 'till one or two.

It may have been the music,
But he reached into my soul -
Then and just forever after,
Loving him was my only goal.

So many years have passed,
And my memory grows dim -
But I knew at that moment
That I was truly loving him.
