A contest poem about men off to war. |
| Where there are men, there will always be wars. ~~Albert Einstein Men marching, marching off to fight the enemy, relentlessly, picking number after number off. Have we seen the worst of it? It's just the beginning, we are waving flags, and wearing buttons, we need to, again and again. These good men defy death. Innocent men who have no wish but to give their lives if they must, for a better world knowing that our country has asked them to go and they have acquiesed with salutes. In D.C., years ago, I visited The Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier we were at full scale then, dying like flies. I knew then, as I do now, there is no easy answer. Just as the flowers have gone so have the days of our lives. There will always be other men, marching, marching off to war. |
