The Tibetans are a fiercely independent people, forced to flee their land from the hostile Chinese. China considers Tibet as one of it's western provinces, while Tibetans do not agree and try to retain their distinct and rich cultural identity. In the world of cold realpolitik, the answers are not always simple. But the emotion and pain remains and is visible.
Inside the center are wonderful Tibetan artifacts. Aleena my daughter, bought a picture of the Potala palace which was the Dalai lama's home in Tibet. It was an excellent cross cultural experience for her. I did what I do every time I visit this center, I bought a wonderful woolen Tibetan carpet.
