A love story based on comedy. And some more flavours.

Stan's Love Story
Bodhisattwa Parekh

A young fellow named Stan, quite the dote,
Loved a girl with a very long coat.
He'd woo with a grin,
She'd let no one in,
And kept him outside by the moat.

He sent her a rose, bright and red,
She accepted, then slept in her bed.
He knocked with a plea,
She said, "Don't bother me,"
And threw down a slightly stale bread.

Poor Stan thought, "This love is absurd!"
He tried speaking just one gentle word.
She replied with a squawk,
Like an angry old hawk,
And he wished he had simply demurred.

He built her a bridge with great care,
To show her how much he did share.
She crossed in a flash,
Then hid all his cash,
And left him just standing right there.

He followed her down to the lake,
For her love, any risk he would take.
He waded in deep,
While she feigned asleep,
A foolish and watery mistake.

The water was shockingly cold,
A sad tale that has often been told.
Stan caught a bad chill,
Which made him quite ill,
His love story then was quite old.
