Thanksgiving Poem

Two Thanksgiving Poems

Free verse 15 lines

On Thanksgiving Day
I am grateful
That I am still alive
And kicking
At age 70

Still married
To my one and only wife

Thankful that I have enough money
To retire comfortably
And live until I die
Without falling into poverty

That is what
I celebrate on Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving In Berkeley in the 70s

Free Verse 15 lines

Sam Adams' Mother was from Arkansas
And did a Southern-style feast
For Thanksgiving and Christmas

A full-roasted turkey
Cooked with stuffing inside.
fresh gravy made with bacon bits.

Bake beans, Green beans, grits
Greens Southern style
with molasses, ham, bacon bits,
onions and bourbon to flavor.

Home-made cranberry sauce
Mashed potatoes, yams
Salad, Wild rice, white rice
Pecan pie with ice cream
For dessert.
