Wonder Walks

Walks around the block for the five-zillionth time. Required by my doctor or it would not be happening at all.

I go twice, once in the morning, the other in the afternoon. I’m retired, and not rich. I could get away with once if I walked further, but I’ve been me long enough to know I can think of some reason why I just couldn’t walk at all that day, every day! It’s not very hard to fool yourself if it sounds good…

So, I fixed it, I adopted a dog. Since I’ve had Oscar, my head cleared of reasons I couldn’t go. You can’t fool a dog with random reasons why you can’t go for a walk. They like walks, but they will also pee and poop on the floor anytime, if required. And they won’t clean it up either…

One day was cloudy and I wasn’t sure if we would make it back before the rain started so I was walking a bit faster. Oscar didn’t seem to mind. He wanders from the sidewalk onto people’s green lawns, back and forth watching for something interesting. One day we saw a crow, and Oscar barked his head off! Then a guy came out and yelled at us for waking him up! I had to laugh, it was the middle of the afternoon. Realizing I was laughing at him, he must have thought it out. Mid-afternoon, waking him up… and he laughed too.

I see him a lot. He’s often out in his yard when Oscar and I go by, and he joins us. We also chat on the phone some days, he calls to see when I’m leaving to walk, saying he needs one too. Who wooda guessed my boring life could get so exciting again… Such is life.
