Words As Weapons

Womyn have reclaimed words that were once meant to diminish them.

Ignorant males hurl words
Aimed at harming
Putting woman in a place
Where they feel broken and lost.
They pull back into themselves -
Afraid to fight

But enough is enough
Those old men
Are afraid of women's power
Afraid of losing their grip
On the patriarchy they peddle.

Women have gotten tired
Of such bullsh*t
They've begun to reclaim their power
See the tossed comments
As the put downs they are
And say "NO".

Men may say women are 'hard',
'cold' or 'too much'
But we are merely asserting
our human rights to exist
And live our best lives.

They refuse to understand
And their fear has them calling us b*tches,
But we can take back our b*tch mode
And create a world more conducive
To all - where we all have a voice
Making our lives more colourful and brilliant
The way it was intended.

Reclaim a word that is now used as a weapon. Make it untouchable.


extra verse cut to meet the 30 line guideline for the contest:

No one group should ever be able
To dominate another
Us versus Them needs to take a hike
We are all human
We bleed and feel intensely
Differences should be celebrated
Not hidden or thought of as less
We only harm ourselves
When we let that mentality
Take root and poison us all.

I can only have 30 lines.... the last two verses could be it's own poem. orit may work without the last verse....
