A short poem about the slow loss of empathy in society. |
| Upon a smiling morning My friend I were talking And the conversation turned to you With a distorted face, they forgot your place Said your sky wasn’t blue I hadn’t the heart to say Truthfully, my friend, the sky is gray It’s the ocean and the sun The vast and the visible That make it the way you view Later on, I dawned, The heart I hadn’t Was a cloud in my clarity Hesitation empathy This world full of apathy So easily hides our hearts And I forgot my place for you, too |
