Not a Bee explores the discomfort of being judged by appearance, not true identity. |
Not a Bee As a bee, a bee I am. Not what you see, exactly, I am only me, a bee. You might fearfully flee From me, the "killer bee", But I'm just a jolly bee In the floral Grand Prix. I'll buzz along, just let me be. You’d see I’m a happy bee, And you, a friend to me. Author's Note: Not a Bee presents an impending potential conflict from the bee’s perspective, highlighting how it is misunderstood and feared. The poem explores the discomfort of being judged by perception rather than by true identity. Through the bee's voice, it emphasizes the consequences of this prejudice, affecting both the bee and those who let fear take over. With simple, direct language, the poem urges readers to reflect on the cost of judgment and the importance of looking beyond appearances, calling for greater empathy and understanding. |
