A poem about the day I fell from a tree on my head. |
| Putting one arm in front of the other, climbing with ease unbeknownst to me the dreadful fall that would come very soon. Higher and higher into the tree I climbed like a monkey, like a monkey was me. Then my foot caught a branch that was crooked and loose. SNAP went the branch and I fell like a rock. Branches whipped at my flailing limbs, and when I landed, it was more than a bonk! CRASH went my body against the ground headfirst, of course, to be clear of my fate if God weren’t around. My family rushed to see if I was okay. My mother said a miracle from God had just been in motion That lived and not died from the terrible plunge. Now maybe eight years has passed since that day and still I remember it, details all there. |
