A bugle blows as the soldier's drum
Comes marching in as the song is sung
By voices singing a sound so sweet
The soldier's heart takes another beat
The trumpets blow on a distant shore
The soldier's drum beats forever more
He's seen the sunshine, he's seen the rain
Day after day, time and time again
The wind is cool like a summer breeze
It puts the soldier's mind at ease
A weary soul and a lonely heart
Only the soldier there to see them part
