A home run struck by wild swingers
Who make excellent contact
With a pillowy bubble,
Wrangling inappropriately
Over the five-sided dish
Known as home plate -
The rectangle standing upward
In front of the hitter and pitcher
For a pilfering…
Each pitch is hacked at
With a stylish groan,
As the hurler of the ball
Seeks available coercion
From livelihood -
A poise by both slugger
And tosser is joyously maintained -
And the legends of both sides cris-cross
The continent seeking memorable ecstasy
And winning,
Knowing that the logistics of their game
May have executional flaws
Which might be overcome someday
For a historic career
Of rare gems
And true greatness
