Was Dr. Palais
A world expert
On 19th century
Korean history.

Going to meet him
In his office
Was an adventure.
Just to find a place to sit

Because he was a notorious packrat
His office wall-to-wall books, papers,
Leftover food.

Yet he always knew
Where everything was
And could find it
In a moment’s notice.
