| I watched a little bird land in a tree, I ran up to say hello, but he flew away from me. I laughed as little squirrels scurried across the grass, I tried to play along, but they ran away too fast. Then, a yellow butterfly, landed on a daisy, I tiptoed up to say, “Hi, I'm Maisy!” But before I could even say a word, It darted away, just like the little bird. I got a visit from a busy bumblebee I thought he'd say hello, but he stung me I ran inside crying and asking my mother why I wasn't trying to hurt them, I just wanted to say hi. She told me in the future, there'd come a day When God says He creation will never be afraid. That night, as lay down to sleep and pray, I dreamt of that harmonious day. I sat on a tree limb, joining the birds in song, I played tag with the squirrels all afternoon long, I told stories to butterflies that perched on my arm And danced with bumblebees without any harm. I woke up and realized it was a dream, not reality, And I'd have to wait for the creatures to trust me. For now, I'll admire them and leave them be But one day, All God's creation will be carefree. |
