only a wish

if only wishing on stars could come true - a poem

I wish I had a different body.
I wish I had better skin.
I wish I had more motivation.

I wish I was all that I'm not.

I wish I didn't eat so much when I get upset.
I wish I wasn't so scared of getting older.
I wish I took more opportunities when I had them.

I wish I was all that I'm not.

And I wish I knew these wishes could come true.
I could be better, happier.
but I know they are only wishes,
no matter how hard I want,
ill forever only be me.
instead of all that I'm not.
