Fueling my poetry

A poem about a person you care about deeply betraying you and you cant forget about them.

I want to get you
Out of my thoughts

But the thing is
you fuel my poetry.

With the memories of us
I put them from
pen to paper.

Like a flame to coal
the thought of you
is burned in my head.

The fire I had in my heart for you
would’ve spread miles,

But you didn’t have the same.

You put the fire out
with heavy waves and ruthless force,
knocking me down with your harsh words.

How can you say such deep things to me
and yet be so shallow?
