Writing Prompt: Yesterday was like no other day.

Yesterday was like no other day
I betrayed you
I betrayed myself

How could I act so rashly?
Taking the one precious thing in my life and dashing it to the rocks

Over the cliff
That’s where it went. Your trust, that is
I don’t blame you

Had you done the same foolish thing
I never would have forgiven you either

Over the same cliff my hope goes
Dashed to the rocks below

Crashing waves, I beseech you
Sweep the mistrust, the betrayal, the utter hopelessness far out to sea
And let us try again
