silent treatment

the silence
it is meant to be a weight around my neck
trying to suffocate me
wielded like a weapon of war
keeping an enemy under siege
for weeks on end

but i welcome it
the silence
for it is a reprieve
from the endless crush
of the black cloud of
endless negativity

the silence
it is meant to punish
but i find only
freedom
