One day, when Sam Adams
Was a young man
He had a mystical experience
That stayed with him
Throughout his life

He had an ephipnay
A spiritual awaking
An encounter with God

He had gone for a run
Through the Berkeley hills
And found himself

At dawn
At inspriation point
In Tilden Park

The highest point
In the Berkeley Hills
1,000 feet above
the San Francisco Bay

as the sun rose
over Mt Diablo
in the East Bay hills

Sam was filled
With a sense of oneness
A sense of awe
And wonder
At the beuaty
Of God’s creation

And knew that the unviverse
Was alive
And he was part
Of the living universe

That mystical feeling
Stayed with him
As he ran home for breakfast

He was no longer an atheist
But remained spiritually open
At one with the universe
