Traveling

my feelings about it

Endless miles of highway
When taking a road trip
Isn't something I look forward to -
Not anymore.

In my younger days,
I enjoyed the adventure;
Traveling place to place
Seeking out something new.

I've lost the feeling of adventure
Outside of these four walls -
Instead of hitting the road
I travel in my mind -

To those places of long ago,
History fills my thoughts,
And figuring out the reasons why
We've gone where we have.

Not saying I won't travel again,
I probably will;
But it will be on a train or in the air -
So I don't have to stop for a bathroom.
