Once Upon A Times

The best Fairy Tales were the scariest.

The stories always started "Once upon a time",
and many of the tales were often set to rhyme.

Of Fairys, Ogres, Dragons — Damsels in distress,
Bards and authors move them — much like a game of chess.

Scaring youngsters with fables so cautionary,
of things that linger beyond, in distant aerie.

Yet, we read them gleefully — willing to be scared,
our childhood memories — imaginations flared.
