I'm going to make it personal
This prompt is about me
I'm going to stop being the victim
The way I used to be

I've had a pampered childhood
Well, up to the age of thirty-seven
I had a maid waiting on me hand and foot
You'd think my world was heaven.

But I never learned to do anything
For myself or the household
I felt helpless, dependent
Always waiting to be told.

Now I'm fifty five
And I'm trying to learn
To do things that happen
Daily, at every turn

Without grumbling or whining
About the bygone day
When the maid would do them
And I'd just laze or play.

But I'm going to get a new attitude
Make things easier on me
This is my job, I'm grateful
That I can do it as it ought to be.

So this prompt is personal
About how I'm going to rearrange
Some of my old beliefs
So my outlook can change!
