Savagery

Recently read about the founding of Rome and wrote a poem about it

What savagery
They say
Of the gods who rape and murder
What savagery
Done to the innocent Rhea Silvia
To born Romulus and Remus
Was savagery necessary?
Savages all
The gods we revere
What men made deities barbaric
And what men condoned rapers?
These gods of mine seem unclear
On whether or not they be deity
Or someone to inspire savage tears
