A poem about living in the most connected era, yet we are so fully disconnected |
| The jug from the plug, The bird from the air The waves from the ocean The tears from emotion The mouth from the face Displays displace Blood from the veins From our lifeless remains sons from their mothers Sisters from brothers Friends from friends You from me You from you Is this how life ends? Caged in their heads Far from free Behind bars of meds I can see Them freeze, and fall, and break apart Confused, deranged, disarranged, discombobulated Disconnect Say something if you see something But you're never looking Death offers itself on a stretched out ledge, composing a requiem for my last breath. I took its scrawny hand, longing for that neverland But then I look down and saw someone staring at me. I stare back at them and they begin to mimic my movements. You see me I recognise those desperate eyes, The mouth that cries See me, see me Then I realize i was staring in a water mirror Still living in this disconnected horror. |
