Birth of a memory

A toddler's first experience with chocolate covered strawberries.

"Reggie! That's 12 chocolate covered strawberries you've eaten!! You'll be sick! No more!"

what's 12? I want...

Reggie seems pleased as he practices his newly acquired sign for "more", yet Mommy replies with a firm, "No."

A fury of indignation rises up in Reggie as Mommy takes the last half-eaten sweet from his grasp.

The screech from his lips was as memorable to Mommy as the crunchy sweet-tart taste of his first chocolate covered strawberries was to little Reggie.

And that is how memories are born.
