free verse poem. New seasonal gifts offered to a tired soul. Nature's artwork. |
"My May Afternoon Awakening" When I slipped outdoors for restorative moments, seemingly, as if by magic, the dull and bleak winter scene had vanished. Before me, the panoramic image of my backyard was transformed renewed. Creator must have had hit the refresh button. I was witness to Nature's artist signing an exquisite pastoral themed painting. After Rain's offering, Sun had popped out from behind gray-drenched clouds causing a wall of shimmering greens and shades of browns to rise standing tall before me. A wall thick with leaves shuttering in the cool brisk air of late afternoon nearing early evening. Woodpecker started a drumroll somewhere in the woods. Squirrel chatter accompanied various tunes birds performed. Simple melodies blended with soft rustling sounds of leaf breeze. After stepping outdoors one late May afternoon, I claimed my restorative moments. My spirit was awakened in the renewal of Season's gifts. line count 22 |
