I Wanna

a poem composed using a child’s logic.

I wanna go outside and play
         in the dirt and the mud.
I wanna band-aid for this scratch
         just look at all that blood!

I wanna go too, I don't wanna stay
         'cuz goin' for rides is fun.
I wanna go fishin' at the pond
         or shoot my bb gun.

I wanna ride my bike all day
         'till the nighttime steals the light.
I wanna play War with the boys
         I promise not to fight.

I wanna go swimming at the lake
         where the water is nice and cool.
I wanna stay home and sleep in
         I don't wanna go to school.
