Sam Adams is the last of a dying race - the Gullah speakers for Writers Cramp

Sam Adams, an ancient wizen black man
Some said was over 100 years old
Spoke in a strange vernacular dialect
From the old Gullah area of south Carolina.

Almost no one outside
Ever understood his diction
Which had gotten worst
with advanced age.

He was born in the swampy lowlands
Thick with moss covered trees,
And a mosaic maze
Of gator infested swamps.
