A sestina form poem |
| By the garden gateway stood a floral pot; its shape and hue, Chinese. I asked about its price; - humor - It’s made of simple plywood! A pot like that of plywood? I bought it for my gateway. Now it’s great garden humor to brag about my pot; - price !! “It’s vintage Ming Chinese.” Behold my pot Chinese! It’s only painted plywood. Guests guessing at its price are flummoxed by my gateway pot. Great fun, my garden humor. My mother hates my humor, she says it’s too Chinese, and thinks I’m smoking pot. I’m going to make a plywood gateway at just the perfect price. I wonder at what price in friendship is my humor. Yet still they pass my garden gateway accepting of my Chinese – plywood - garden pot. And should I buy an honest pot and pay a fancy price, I’ll keep my plywood garden humor, - Chinese, standing in the gateway. My “high price” plywood pot is just my style of humor. It’s fun when new friends are impressed by Chinese art that decorates my fancy garden gateway. |
