Went out on New Year’s Eve
To the Cosmos Bar in Bangkok,
That city of Lost Angels

His usual Friday night watering hole
He had a compelling need to see Khun Lek
Joining her to drink their way to hell,
As he was twenty drinks too sober.

He soon lost himself
In an alcoholic haze
Drinking until the last call
Not knowing or caring
That it was his last drink.

He stood up
Went outside
A bus ran him over.
Ending his last night
On earth.

The regulars toasted
The memory of the late
Sam Adams
Just another mad, sad night
In the Cosmos Bar.
