How long does it take to heal a broken heart

Will my heart mend
Will I ever be the same again
When will I "move on"
Now that you and I are gone
Will I ever find peace and happiness
With a heart filled with so much sadness
There's no where to run away
From my first and last thought of every day

People tell you..sorry
But it wasn't meant to be
Or He'd do it again
He was never your best friend
People don't change
It's all so strange
He was so cruel and mean
And he ruined all your self esteem
They say you're young
You'll find a new one
But there's nothing anyone can say or do
That will ever change how much I love you

I loved you more than you’ll ever know
I wish I could let all those feelings go
How do you let go of part of you
Without losing yourself too
There's torment in my soul
Where love and hate duel for control

If you were that easily swayed
I don't want you back anyways
I guess More time must pass
And I must burn more tanks of gas
Maybe the pain from these years
Will fade with a few more tears
