Dad turned 21 when he was at UCLA.

Needless to say, there was a party!

Oh, no frills like balloons or confetti or anything. Just - the stuff that was now legally allowed.

Bottles and bottles of it.

And there were RULES.

Yes rules.

You had to down a bottle and then sing the California drinking song.

If you slurred, you were out. It meant drinking another bottle and starting over.

The one who drank through the most bottles and sang the song slur-free the most times ... won ... a BOTTLE!! Wow!

On his 21st birthday, Dad won.

He's eighty-six years old now and still remembers the song.

I had him sing it for you.

You judge whether he's OUT and needs to chug and start over!!
