Another brief adventure

I didn’t even know Charles built a mound;
Littering the land of Lincoln
Like an ungainly lump.
I barely noticed Charles Mound,
Nonetheless proclaimed the highest point
Of all in the state of Illinois,
Inglorious next to a Chicago skyscraper
Sits right where Charles left it.
