A lonely reader wanders the stacks of a library |
| Oh lonesome me For who am I to be While strolling through shelves and stacks Filled with books both hardcovers and paperbacks Searching for long lost treasure Taking every step-in measure Looking for courage among the books And in every cozy reader’s nook From a stroll in the streets of Baltimore To a house on a rainy English moor Battles fought against ancient foes And thrills to keep you on your toes Lands where hidden cities are sought And an island where X marks the spot Each book a treasure trove By great imagination wove With the turn of every page In books from every age Each new adventure unfurls With the sparkle of diamonds and pearls I’ve gone fishin’ again In the realms of Where and When Surrounded by tales and characters of yore I’m not quite so lonesome anymore |
