What Seems Is Not What Is

Masks of cheer adorn their faces
as their world is washed in wine.
Each, dreaming of other places
relating tales of another time.
         Salutations to their mundane lives
         the clink of glasses echos 'round.
         Behind their masks, exist more lies
         so in libations do they drown.
