April Snow

No April Fool's joke, it really did snow today. Just for a few hours.

Where did this snow come from?
Late April is no time to feel this cold.
We had temperatures in the eighties last week.
I guess my gardening is being put on hold.

I heard that there may be cold weather
And I could not believe my ears
That some snow may be coming with it
That left me practically in tears.

The flakes started falling in mid-morning
And some flakes were fairly big
I saw that the snow was not sticking
There was no snow that covered tree twigs

And now at night I will worry
Will there be more snow for the people to see
With all the plans for outside activities
Will some of the time be frost-free

I'm not really complaining about Mother Nature
She has played jokes on our region before
But I'd like to ask if she could give us more sunshine
Because that is the weather I really adore.
