Wyoming's mountain

Gannett Peak rises 14,000 feet straight up
out of horse ranches and the green fields
of my dreams of Wyoming.

I am pretty sure Louis L’Amour
Or at least some of his cowboys
And adventurers wandered there.

Sometimes the wind blows
And tells a quiet story
Of those who trod these trails.

One day I am going to pack
And saddle my old pony
So we can climb that mountain.
