Their First Walk Spring 2014 "What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey, that's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon." -- George Bailey, It's a Wonderful Life She stepped outside on a chilly night To escape the merry din; None of her friends aware quite yet She'd left the party within. He peered out of the frosty glass To see her standing alone; He thought he'd be a gallant man And offer to walk her home. The moon shone low in the winter sky, Casting shadows all around; And the two together walked, too shy For either to make a sound, 'Till an icy wind blew up and pushed Them into a bank of snow; Then together they laughed at how the cold Had made their faces glow. She spoke of the books she read And he of college plans; Then both smiled when she reached out To hold his offered hand. At her gate he paused and asked if they Could meet again on Main. She said she'd see, already hoping To continue down this lane. |
