Everyone asks, "...but what if" after every relationship.

If you were here
What would you say?
Would you lie again
And tell me it's okay?
Would you pull up a chair?
Run fingers through my hair?
Would you pick truth over dare?

If I were there
What would I do?
Would I flee again
Or see it through?
Would I stay off drugs?
Trade bottles for travel mugs?
Would I cut up more rugs?

If we were anywhere
What would we choose?
Would we try again
Or would we still lose?
Would we be more wild?
Trade the fire for the mild?
Would we still have our child?
