A tribute to soldiers of any era

Veteran's Day

Big dreams of glory, see the world;
a boy makes military plans.
Sharp uniforms impress the girls
and discipline will make the man.

Boots march on in endless drill
as boredom builds on base.
Shipping out brings nervous thrill
to an eager, anxious face.

Scenes of war played out in mud
with shell-shocked battle cries.
Courage measured out in blood;
men pray to make it home alive.

Returning heroes soon forgot
parade one day each year.
Boyhood glories dearly bought
and smiles that hide a tear.
