An Important Test


I read the directions. Actually I read them twice. It was pretty easy. I guess they make these tests pretty idiot proof these days.

“I got the answer.” I called to George.

“That didn’t take too long,” he called from his office. He played a computer game in there most evenings. “Did you pass?”

I laughed. What a crazy question. Like this is something you pass or fail, or can study for.

I walked into his office, the results in hand. “It’s a plus.”

“Not a minus? So it’s pass or fail?” He grinned.

“It’s pretty much yes or no. Easiest test I ever took.” I returned his grin.

“But the hardest subject to learn.”

“You’ll be a great father.”

“And you, my dearest Emily, will be an amazing mother.”
