Footprints The rules were set out daily for our footprints to follow and we counted on a long dead honor system and on those rules that also tended to be changed even more often by a conference call of mindless chirping voices Our feet fell in line with what they demanded and we counted on fairness they also tended to reward the faithful rather than the compliant these empty vessels with no common sense "Take your masks off!" came the cry of the desperate potential litigants and we counted on seeing the reality of the thing at last they also tended to not wear masks themselves so the truth might never be revealed... or so these tyrants believed Footfalls following the path now erased and we learned to count on nothing that Spring but a man walking in his backyard slowly a hundred years of truth and faith in something better shining the light on his blessed way... 16 Lines |
