Finding Comfort During December Snow |
| This poem is entered in "The Writer's Cramp" for December 14, 2019. Here is the prompt: Write a story or poem about being stuck in bad weather in December. The Irish Sweater Found it in Galway in a sweater shop, Many Decembers ago my trusty Irish Sweater keeps me safe and warm while the snow and wind trap me inside Or maybe it just keeps me warm and I feel safe from the weather and all its perils, safe from the inevitable march of time the clock clicking off another Christmas It's all about the layers, so they say and seems like it would be scratchy but it's more like a warm hug from my Aunt Catherine all the way from Galway, Ireland my home away from home one December when all seemed lost and indeed it was and I hold on to that sweater and everything my aunt gave me and all the safety and home it represents ~ when I touch it with my hands and heart while the snow rages outside and my basset hound snores on her cozy bed with fresh covers ~ Feels like home to me... 21 Lines |
