Sitting out Halloween Eve, should have stayed inside.... |
| Tonight is All Hallows’ Eve, A very dark, dreary night. The clouds begin breaking Showing the moons eerie light. Now, the children are sleeping, Tucked snuggly into their beds But they’re tossing and turning As spirits roam through their heads. I’m relaxing on the patio With my coffee clutched tight. I hear through the screen door The clock chiming midnight. “I should go back inside now it’s late; past time for bed.” But, before I can get up, I see the moon turn blood red. Then, out of the shadows, Three corpses draw near! I want to flee from them But I’m frozen with fear. The closest one screeches, Spewing maggots and puss, “You should not be out here, this night is for us!” “Go back with the living and forget what you see, or by the next Hallows’ Eve your corpse will wander with me!” My fear has released me. I run quickly inside. Straight to my bedroom, Under the blankets I hide! Now, the children are sleeping, Their nightmares have past, But the nightmare I witnessed holds me tight in its grasp. |
