I go to the pond
Each day.
I give nourishment to
My feathered friends.
They wait for me,
Every day.`
They run when they hear me.
I can barely get to the bench
Where I sit every afternoon.
They speak to me in their honky voices.
“Provide us with the feast that you possess.
Give it to us.”
Like every afternoon,
I throw them the yeast feast.
Like every afternoon,
They gobble it up.
