He asked, in Gethsemane, if there's another way If sin can be recompensed without His blood to pay But silence answered as He prayed The world did not speak as if to say There was no other way The narrow road that lies ahead Was paved by ugly stings of death That drew His blood at every tread While thorns of sin, and guilt, and dread He took it all upon His head For every hurtful thought and word and deed For every act compelled by pride and greed Which every one must guilty plead These are the burdens we’ve tried to hide These blemishes we cannot justify But these, Justice calls, to lay by His side Redeemed by the blood of the crucified He bore our shame to give us grace And I can’t help but stand amazed He’s filled my heart, full of His praise Line count: 20 Prompt: "Heart-Full Praise" Referenced Verses: Luke 22:42. Matthew 7:13. Romans 6:23 |
