A poem about tragedy, loss, and missed opportunity. Regret always comes too late. |
| Have you forgotten their radiant glow? Jaded green eyes with once an emerald shine? Before this life dealt us the harshest blow Before my world was ever so sublime Before your world opened up before me This lost utopia, paradise slain Back when this perfect place was yours only Back before that perfect peace died in vain Before these harsh truths leapt forth from the dark Seeking host to their parasitic snare Before the shrouded sirens left their mark Before they brought apocalypse to bear Before your kindness galvanized my will Forged my soul to its predetermined state Tempered my wandering to gait of steel And silenced my heart as I embraced my fate Jaded green eyes dealt me the harshest blow But I lost the right to that joyful glow I won’t forget the incandescent storm That dulled from those orbs which were once so warm |
